Do you still have a key? Seems like you could get some money for it...

Guessing somebody bought it at auction guessing it would be easy to repair, found out it wasn’t and is moving it on?

It’s “ slightly-related to the topic” story time!

Many years ago, when the world was simpler, I ran over (well, into and through ) a seven foot alligator in the middle of a back road in Florida in my Honda S2000 . Made a huge mess, and the car wound up spending a couple weeks at a shop getting all patched up. When I got the car back, I wound up trading it in for a Land Rover, just in case I hit another gator (and because I had also picked up a new project car).

About 2 years later, I got an email from someone saying they had my car. Slightly confused, I responded by saying both my cars were in my driveway. To clarify, he said he had my former S2000. Asking how he knew it was mine, he explained that he bought the car at auction for dirt cheap to turn into a weekend track car. When he had dropped the front subframe to facilitate the install of his shiny new Moton coilovers, he found what looked like big chunks of dark leather wedged in there.

A friend of his that was helping turn wrenches told him about a funny story involving an acquaintance of his hitting an alligator with an S2000. He put two and two together, tracked me down, then reached out . Sure enough, it was my old car.
